This work took place at Fort Stewart. The intent was to
utilize the capabilities of the TimberMarkTM
unit to spray individual
trees within a designated impact area. The top photo
on the left shows TimberMark spot spraying herbicides on one of the individual pine
trees
that were affecting line of sight visibility in the impact area.
The top photo on the right is an enhanced version of a similar
photo showing a better picture of the actual spray as it comes out of
the multiple nozzles located on the system.
The bottom photo on the left
highlights the initial area that we were tasked to spray. After
an initial overflight, the area was broken down into sections requiring
broadcast applications and those that could be treated by individual
spot treatments The buffered areas were areas that had
individual trees presenting line of sight issues. Although they
could have been treated with a broadcast spray, it was cheaper and more
environmentally friendly to do spot treatments on the individual
trees. Depending
upon the types and the proximity of the trees within the treatment
area, an experienced pilot can treat 30 to 45 trees per hour.
